Inclusion, Diversity & Equity

A Safe space for all

The principles of inclusion, diversity and equity are at the heart of everything we do at Nederlander Theatres.

We are committed to providing an inclusive environment for everyone who enters or interacts with our theatres, from audiences to performers to team members.

Our mission is to lead a culture of inclusion by embedding inclusion, diversity and equity into everything we do.

Recruitment

As an equal opportunities employer, we celebrate the differences in each other, understanding that these differences bring fresh ideas, unique perceptions and skills which are vital to our success.

We want our team to be representative of all sections of society and welcome applications from people of all backgrounds, ages, ethnicities, gender identities, sexual orientations, religions, beliefs, and disabilities.

We aim to be as free from bias as possible throughout our recruitment process, from anonymising all applications to ensuring gender diversity on interview panels.

We recognise that our workforce and industry have a long way to go to represent London’s vibrant ethnic diversity. Our aim is to have a workforce whose diversity reflects the city in which we are based.

To increase opportunities within the arts for people of the global majority, we guarantee an interview to any applicant who clearly demonstrates all essential qualities of a job and identifies as who identify as Asian, Black or a member of any other minority ethnic group.

Accessibility

We are committed to making the experience of all our visitors as easy and enjoyable as possible.

We work within the restrictions of our historic theatres to improve physical access to as many areas of our buildings as we can, and during performance times, our dedicated Access Hosts help are available to help any audience members with access requirements.

Breaking Down Barriers

We know that the theatre industry and our buildings can feel like intimidating spaces, particularly if you’re new to theatre. We’re working on removing real and perceived barriers for future employees and customers.

We are regularly reviewing and building on our recruitment process, and working on exciting outreach projects and placements. It is a priority to continuously work on our accessibility strategy and to showcase our buildings and teams on our website and social media channels for everyone to have access.
